So this is my very first blog post, yipeee (said mostly serious with a tiny hint of sarcasm), and as so, I feel it most appropriate to post about my wedding. This is, after all, how it all got started. So yes, I've been with my husband since we were 15, and yes, we were crazy and in love and got married at 19, and yes, I've never regretted it for a minute....
So I got married before Pinterest and cool, unique wedding dresses. I had a wedding that didn't come from trendy blogs or inspiration boards, but rather from the raw minds of crazy, I mean creative, people... like my genius and innovative mother who's gift is to dream up beauty and make it a reality. I wore a modern style haku lei (now more commonly known as the flower crown), got married in the most beautiful and secluded (at the time) venue on Maui and wore a baby pink dress that I made from scratch. Oh, and I had all my guests wear white. Yep, all of them.
Why do things that way they’ve always been? Just for traditions sake? I believe in making up your own traditions that actually mean something to you. I’ve done gold dresses, pantsuits and a lot of unconventional styles that usually aren’t acceptable as a “wedding” gown. This is my passion. This is why I do what I do.
The reason I made this into a career, is because all I saw were the same old traditional wedding dresses and nothing out there that matched my style or aesthetic. When I searched for the perfect wedding dress for my wedding all I found was disappointment. I then decided to take matters into my own hands and make what I had always envisioned, the dress of my dreams. But what about all the other brides out there who were like me? That’s why I started to do something about it. I wanted to be another option for brides.
